Consequences After Adopting

Picture yourself with your new child in your arms holding them so tight as if you will never let them go. You feel like a weight just got lifted off your shoulders with no more waiting and problems you have been dealing with for months. When you get back home you feel like everything will be perfect but their are some issues that can occur. One situation is if you already have kids of your own they can get jealous with the new baby. They may feel like they are not as important anymore because you are focusing on your new child which can cause new problems to deal with. Another situation when you integrate a new child into your family is the child will be questioned by other kids for why they are different from their parents, which can cause many questions for the adopted child. The adopted child can get into a phase telling them self they weren't wanted by their birth parents and not loved. You have to make sure you show them you picked them for a reason and love them even if they are not blood related to you. The major question that will likely pop up when the child is in their teen years is "can I find my birth parents?" This is a hard topic to talk with your child because you don't know if their birth parents are still alive or in the beginning of the process the birth parents could have said they don't want anything to do with their kid. The situation is difficult but the question has to be answered for the teen not to be confused. Every family with an adopted child will go through some type of issue that they have to overcome.

Adoption is a great way to have a child if you are not able to have your own. From my first post the process of adoption takes patience and flexibility but you also have to keep in mind that adopting does cost money. When you are thinking about adopting you have to talk about how much money you want to spend because the prices vary where you adopt. National adoption is defiantly less expensive when comparing to internationally and you have to think about if you are are hiring an agent too. Their are different scenarios when adopting nationally. You can adopt from a foster home, with a private agent or independently which can range from $0-$7,000. Then adopting internationally can cost from $12,000- $30,000 but every agency and country are different so you will want to compare different ones to find the right one for you.

Adoption Process

Adoption process is a long and difficult process that takes a lot of patience. I was adopted when I was two and half years old from Russia. My parents had to follow rules that were given to them. Some examples of the rules were:

Both of the mothers and fathers age could not add to one hundred.
A social worker comes into your home and makes sure it's a safe and positive environment to raise a child.
A police backup check on all of the members in the family.
Show your marriage certificate and if you have kids their birth certificates.
You need letters of recommendation from friends and co-workers

Since my parents adopted internationally my parents also had to follow the countries regulation too.
